A double drop flatbed truck is built with two high decks; One at the front and the other one at the back of the trailer. This creates a well at the center part and is used for hauling loads that are extremely tall. Double drops are commonly known as lowboys and usually range between 24 ft to 29.6 ft in length. Also, a standard double drop can haul up to 40,000 lb of loads.
These are similar to double drops, only that they are extendable to accommodate more freight. Just like the name suggests, the deck is extendable and has more load capacity when compared to standard double drops. They have lengths of between 29 ft to 50 ft.
Also known as single drops step decks are flatbed trucks made up of two parts, a low deck, and an upper deck. They can carry up to 48,000 lb and are usually between 48 ft to 53 ft. The lower deck is mainly used for transporting loads that cannot be hauled using standard flatbed trucks due to height restrictions.
