Single Axle Tractor
Single axle tractors are flexible vehicles that have one set of rear axles. These tractors are popular for urban city deliveries because they are more fuel-efficient and easier to park than tractors that have more rear axles.
Tandem Axle Tractor
A tractor that has two sets of rear axles right next to each other is a tandem axle tractor. This extra rear axle adds stability to the tractor while driving on high-speed highways, and it increases the payload capacity that the truck can carry. These tractors are ideal for heavy loads or long-distance freight.
Sleeper Tractor
A sleeper tractor can be either a single axle or tandem axle tractor, but the one difference between a sleeper tractor and a day cab is that a sleeper tractor has a compartment called a “sleeper cabin”. The sleeper cabin will at minimum have a bed for the driver to rest in, and could even include kitchen items like a microwave and refrigerator, or even a bathroom. The sleeper cab is perfect for long-haul trips that allow the driver to avoid the disruption of having to find and pay for nightly accommodations over a multiple-day trip.
