In some cases, flatbeds can be fitted with side stakes that act as reinforcement to ensure goods are well secured. They are common for the shipment of other vehicles and logs. These types of cargo aren't affected much by harsh weather or road conditions.
Dry Van Trailers
Dry trailers are designed with an enclosure over the cargo area. As the name suggests, the trailer's main aim is to protect the goods from moisture and other elements while on the road. The goods shipped in a dry van are mainly non-perishable as the cargo area is built to maintain room temperatures. The trailers are used in several industries which include construction, distribution, and the food industry.
Refrigerated trailers are made for temperature-sensitive goods. The cargo area is fitted with a temperature control unit that maintains optimum conditions for the durability of the goods. Refrigerated trailers are mainly used in shipping foodstuffs and temperature-sensitive chemicals during long hauls.
