What is required to rent a commercial vehicle on COOP?

To qualify for a COOP account and rent vehicles on the platform, your business will need to meet the following requirements:

All businesses must pass a financial history check. COOP uses a Dun & Bradstreet (D-U-N-S) number to help us learn more about your business. Look up your D-U-N-S number here or, if you need to, create a D-U-N-S number for your business.

Meet Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) score requirements. We also use this safety compliance and enforcement program of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) that holds motor carriers and drivers accountable for their role in safety to determine rental eligibility.

To rent certain vehicle types in certain states, a USDOT# is required. We review the DOT number history to ensure it meets our safety and operating standards. The information you provide to the Department of Transportation (USDOT#) must match the information you provide to COOP. This includes your company’s email, phone number, and the representative name.

After your account has been created, your business will have access to reserve different vehicles. Requirements for renting a vehicle differ depending on the type of vehicle and are listed below:

  • To rent sleeper tractors, businesses must have a USDOT# that is registered and active for at least 1 year.
  • To rent trucks over 16 feet, day cab tractors, and trailers, businesses must have a registered and active USDOT#.
  • To rent trucks 16 feet or less, certain states do not require a USDOT# when used within that state and also adhere to the load threshold restrictions of that specific state. Please reference the map below to see which highlighted states do not require a USDOT#.
  • To rent sprinter vans, businesses must pass our credit check to rent sprinter vans on the platform. A USDOT# is not required for intrastate use. If crossing state lines, you will require a USDOT#.

Eligibility to rent on the platform is subject to COOP approval.
