When you submit a new rental request or ask to extend a reservation, and you are paying with a credit card, a temporary hold is placed on your card as an authorization to cover the full amount of a reservation or extension (including a security deposit if applicable). This hold process streamlines the reservation process and results in more requests being approved by Owners.
If an Owner approves your reservation or extension, the authorization will turn into a real charge, and the amount will be deducted from your credit card. If a hold was placed for a security deposit on your reservation, it will be released upon successful return of your rental.
If your request is declined or expires, the hold will be released. Depending on the processing time of your credit card company, it may take up to 72 hours for the amount to reflect on your account.
Once an Owner has accepted your reservation, you will be charged a prepaid mileage fee in addition to your security deposit. Upon vehicle return, your mileage payment will be adjusted based on the actual mileage used.
